Is the contour abs belt good quality and does it work?

I've made this hub to provide more information to anyone looking to buy an ab toning belt, who might be considering buying the contour abs belt. There are two big selling ab belts on the market today - the contour abs, and the flexbelt. The contour abs belt is promoted via infomercials on TV which are pretty over-hyped and used to make some pretty big claims about how you could lose weight and stuff - which simply isn't true, just from using an ab belt.

The Contour Abs belt costs $14.95 'trial fee', plus four payments of $49.95 each...so well over $200. The flex belt costs $199.99, and includes a free 1 year magazine subscription to health and fitness magazine or maxim.

The contour belt quality is not great, and there are complaints online about the contour abs belt. I was thinking of getting one after I saw their TV ad, but in the end went for the flex belt instead after I did some research online, and I'm really happy with it. I'm quite active anyway, and its really helped me to tone up my abs.

Flexbelt promotes their ab toner online, themselves - the ab belt is only available from the manufacturer direct, and is guaranteed for 2 years. Its high quality, and up to date in design, with a very handy rechargeable power pack - so no need to worry about your batteries running out, and no need to spend money on more all the time. Delivery is fast, and customer service I have found to be extremely good with the flex belt. Its also FDA approved - the first device of its kind to receive that honor!

A few words of warning about buying an ab belt:

1. Don't buy an ab belt expecting to lose weight though, cos it won't help!

2. Buy the best quality you can afford! Since both the flexbelt and contour belt are similar prices, the choice here should be obvious, as the flexbelt is a LOT better quality for slightly less money!

Theres a good comparison of the contour abs and flexbelt here, worth reading if you're going to buy one.

The contour abs belt

Ab belts in more detail

The contour abs belt is widely advertised on TV in 'infomercials'. To the right is a photo of what you get in the contour abs package. The price of the contour abs belt is $14.95 trial fee, plus 4 further monthly payment of $49.95 each - so a total of well over $200 - be aware that you will be charged monthly - there are cases where users have signed up not realising that they will be charged $49.95 for 4 months after they receive their contour belt.

Delivery is sometimes slow, and is the source of many complaints online about the contour belt - often the belt does not arrive still within the 'free trial' period, so you cannot send it back unless it arrives faulty.

Ab toning belts, and electronic muscle toning systems have been used for many years in the physio therapy treatment world, to treat muscle related injuries as rehabilitation, or exercise muscles that would otherwise be inactive due to injury.

In the video below, you can see how using an ab toning belt can benefit your abdominal muscles, and how effective it is when compared to traditional crucnhes or situps.

There is no doubt that using an EMS ab toning belt such as the contour abs or the flex belt can help you to tone and strengthen your mid section, and help you exercise as a very effective alternative or addition to traditional ab workout routines such as doing crunches.

The only thing that will limit the results you see is which ab belt you choose, and its quality. Overall we did not feel that the contour abs was of sufficient quality to recommend it, an opinion backed up by this direct comarison of the two leading ab toners - read the contour abs vs flexbelt comparison here.

I ordered the contour belt without reading comments due to TV commercial stating "Order now to receive free trail offer for $14.95" I then looked for reviews, which were not good.I called back within 30 minutes to cancel my offer and was given a number to call the next day because of no record of my order.I called the next morning and spoke with Chris who also said that was card had been declined and the order had not been placed,so there was nothing further for me to do.I also checked with the bank to make sure my acct. was not debited and it had not been.I then ,immediately, sent the company an e-mail,thinking I'd have a record on hand.Good thing I did because ,sure enough,I received a contour belt 3 weeks later.I called the company and I,too, became a dissatisfied customer.I had to pay return shipping or be responsible for the entire bill. Please take heed and do not become involved with this scam!
